Catch up

So a few things have held me back from making any posts in a long time. Of course school has been part of it. It gets pretty busy sometimes. And I have been working two days a week from home...or my laptop and wherever I happen to be with it. But really, I haven't been on here because I like to put photos in my blogs, and my camera broke. Luckily it was still under warranty and I got it fixed for free but it took sending it in to Canon. Then shortly after that my PC died. I think it must be the power supply. Anyways, I keep all my photos on there and I have the camera software on there. So, today I installed the camera software on my Mac, and now here I am.

Here's some random stuff from the last three months.

My family was in town and it was my dad's birthday on Jan 11th so we went out for some food at the Banana Leaf in downtown Vancouver. (Sitting right next to my dad so I didn't get any good photos of him - plus he doesn't like photos of him).

I went with Sara to one day of the Canadian championships of figure skating at the Pacific Coloseum. She had tickets to every day, so she took a different person each day. This is where my camera decided to break!

To celebrate the leap year, Adam, Nate, Murray and I played some poker at Adam's new place living with his brother. It was actually the day before he was moving in.

In March it was Q's birthday so he had a bunch of us over and there was some rock band action going on.

Some of us also played Scrabble (while listening to Gordo sing). Sara and I won the game by a narrow margin, but then we had an unfair advantage because some people were by themselves and we were on a team.

I visited Saturna for Easter weekend. We played a lot of rounds of disc golf on a course my dad created at the local school.

There was some monkey throwing.

We played some fun games like Blokus, Rummy blocks, and what we call Multi-game which is a game my dad made up using Scrabble, Password, Scategories, Outburst, Trivia, charades and Pictionary.

I think this is my sisters looking for easter eggs.

So, now that school is about to wind down and I have my camera back and am putting photos on here I may post a bit more often.

24 Hour 24 Marathon and Desert Bus

From 11am Dec 30th 2007 to 11am Dec 31st 2007, we watched 24 episodes (season 1) of the show 24. We also played the Penn and Teller video game called Desert Bus which involves driving a bus through a desert for 8 hours (no pause button). Much fun was had.

People were very excited about the marathon.

The room was really smoky from the bbq smoke coming right in the window.

Where there's smoke sometimes there's fire. We tried to keep
the smoke out of the house with the fan.

Rob was playing a game called Portal that looked like fun.

There was a lot of love.

Desert Bus was started up at 3am.

It wasn't easy to watch both screens if you were the one driving.

There wasn't much scenery along the road.

When we made it to Vegas, we received 00000001 point.

Near the End

On boxing day we went to Cloverdale and had a little mini christmas with my Grandparents. Sara came over and my grandma even gave Sara presents even th0ugh she'd just found out Sara would be there a few hours earlier.

Near the end of the year I got to go skiing once. It was at Seymour, and it was bad conditions. All the days I had free to go skiing seemed to have crappy weather for the local mountains. Miraculously, my parents managed to score the use of my grandma's time share over in Whistler to go skiing for a day. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room there for me...there was a strict person limit. Hopefully I get out for skiing a few more times this season. We shall see.

After that day of skiing at Seymour there was a power outage at my grandma's house in Cloverdale. My sisters, my mom and I ended up playing Blokus by candle light.

Of course there was also the 24 hour 24 marathon spanning from Dec 30th and 31st.

Christmas on Saturna

So, note I will start making more posts here as I'm not doing Photo of the Day this year. I actually have a backlog of things to talk about since I had winter vacation. First, there was Christmas vacation at Saturna with most of my family. There was just 7 of us, as my sister was down in South America and for a brief time Anarctica watching penguins.

Saturna had really good weather most of the 5 days I was there, it was sunny and pretty warm.

It still felt like Christmas though as we went Christmas caroling one night.
Here's Ben and Farley getting along well we walked between houses.

I played a game of monopoly (Star Wars edition) with my siblings which is something that's almost become a tradition for us when we visit Saturna. Apparently I have no photo documenting it so here is one of Farley looking like he is dead on Christmas morning.

We also went on a big hike my first day there...some of it was a bushwhacking
and some of it was following a narrow trail down a cliff. This is my dad,
the fearless leader of the group

For Christmas, I gave my family a game called Blokus which everyone seems to love.

On boxing day we took a ferry to the mainland and hoped to get some skiing in.
