Life Now

So my life has changed significantly lately. My new basement suite is awesome. It is also all mine. It seems very odd, but also very nice to come home to a home that is unchanged. That is, nothing in it has been messed up, moved, knifed or anything. I have settled down pretty nicely so far and many of my friends and my immediate family have seen the place and I think they've all approved.

Here's a quick tour:

I had a few weeks back in April where I had some blissful amounts of free time but now I've started my new job. I even have a workspace at the school now. It's much bigger and nicer than my space at the hospital although I suppose with a little less privacy. Who needs that though at work? It's not like the grad students around me are noisy.

Anyways, I still feel like I have lots of free time on my days off and I squeeze in time to see Sara when I can. I should go over there more often considering she doesn't have a U-pass anymore. One of these days I'll walk on the Albion ferry.

Tomorrow is the weekend and I am going to work a few hours. Other than that I have no idea what I'll do...but I kind of love that.

Sara, Hockey, Pub, Poker, Cops

Yesterday was a really busy day. In the morning, Sara and I enjoyed sleeping in and then rushed for the bus. We never give ourselves enough time to leisurely walk there. We got there on time but then the bus went by full. In the end we managed to catch one and Sara met one of her best friends while I went off to play some hockey with the guys.

Unfortunately I only consumed a few Nibs (and nothing to drink) before playing so I felt pretty wiped out. It was a nice couple of games although Greg's friend Rob kicks all our asses at it. After hockey some of the guys came over to my place and chilled there and watched a little hockey. Then Greg, John, Gordo, Rob and I headed across the river and they dropped me off at the Foggy Dew where I had a drink with Sara and a few of her friends. I'm not a big fan of bars but it was good to hang out with Sara there.

Then she had to leave to catch the bus so I caught it with her and got off to go to Greg's house and re-meet up with friends. We had some good food and played some good poker but by this point I was feeling quite exhausted. I slept for most of the Planet Earth freshwater episode we watched afterwards.

Then when we drove home we had an interesting experience where-in a couple cop cars pulled us over. We're not sure why. They asked Greg for his ID and then quizzed him on parts of it as he had just gotten a haircut. The cop asked him why there was a cutout of Jermaine Jackson on his window while the other cop asked Rob why there was a cut out of a head on the other door (he didn't know it was Luongo). The cop asked Greg's Rob what the deal was with the laptop and why we had a stuffed duck in the car too? Greg's Rob said the laptop was for playing music and the duck was a friend of ours. At this point the cop asked us if we'd all been smoking dope or something to which my old roommates Rob replied "surprisingly no...not with this group." The cops on the other side of the car then asked Gordo to get out so they could find out if his hair was real. It was. They then let us go on our way, without searching the car. They would have found some weird stuff if they did.
