So the last few days have been quite eventful. First I went up to Cypress on Thursday evening with a few other people from work. We went on a snowshoeing tour through the woods with a stop at a ski lodge where the fed us a whole bunch of snacks. Unfortunately the weather sucked and so we got all wet and didn't get a view.

On Saturday, I went with my family to the Canucks practice. I don't really watch hockey much and don't know many of the players names but it was still pretty awesome. My dad knows all the players names and pointed them out even though they were wearing practice jerseys without numbers (just numbers on the back of their helmets). He even knew the names of the injured players who came out (some of which have been out for a long time). At the end of the practie there was a shootout between team Canada and team World (except both goalies are from Quebec). Team Canada won by a couple goals probably because no one could get anything passed Luongo who played on Team Canada's side.

That's the number of hours I have left living in this location. As of 8am this morning, it hit the 1000 mark and then slipped down into the 3 digits. There have been some good times and some bad times, and it'll be weird living else where, but I'm sure I'll adjust.

The weekend was pretty awesome. Well, I spent Saturday morning doing lots of cleaning as some people were supposed to come look at the place for possibly renting. So, no it's clean and there's lots of space. The people never showed up though and my landlord blamed it on the rain. Who's not used to rain living around here?! He the lent me an umbrella which I think I've managed to lose already.

Later in the evening I met up with Alex and we went to the Foggy Dew for Shazzi's birthday but it was way too full. In the end we ate at Red Robin's.

It was pretty good food and some good times. Shaz played with the lite brite I gave her - making a pretty picture of a cake and we all helped a little.

There was real cake eaten too.

After the party Alex and I went to Murray's where we played some Risk. I haven't been to Murray's in a loooong time. It was fun.

The past

So...Sunday was a day for thinking about the past. I talked to my first girlfriend for the first time in about 4 years. It was quite the interesting conversation. It made me think of all the people we leave behind in life just because we all take different paths. Initially I was thinking, wow, I've gone out and explored the world while she's spent all this time in the same little town, but really everyone goes for what makes them happy. She sounds happy with what her life despite the fact that I would be bored silly and going out of my mind if I still lived there.

We knew we were going separate ways though, and that we were destined for completely different things and that's one of the reasons we broke up. She asked me if I'd do anything differently if I knew then what I know now and that's a tricky question to answer. I think I acted immature at times and that was stupid, but at the same time, if I acted differently I wouldn't be who I am today. I also wouldn't be where I am today (I'm not talking about the particular residence and roommates!), with all the friends I have around me. I value my friends above almost everything.

In the evening I was at my Grandma's place where my brother lives and we watched a movie called A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. It was all about this guy going back to where he grew up after he abandoned everyone there, and most of the scenes were flashbacks to the times he had. Now, his life had been very screwed up and traumatic and that's why he left, but that doesn't mean you don't miss the place. It was a good movie.

I miss Dawson Creek from time to time, as I have spent about half my life there. I will visit someday but now I also have someone to tell me what's going on there and how life has changed (although she lives just outside of Dawson). She asked if we can be friends again, and I answered, "for sure."

Visitors

On this past week we probably had the most visits ever.

On Monday Murray crashed here. Rob was trying to make things explode and he had a tank of oxygen and another of propane. Murray wanted to capture it in a photo. All Rob could make was large flames though. He never got anything to explode.

On Tuesday Murray, Brad and Tanya were over to play some Guitar Hero. Even Tanya played a little after doing a lot of booing. Then she left her cellphone here.

On Wednesday Tanya came back for a visit and to pick up her cellphone. She showed us these interesting videos on YouTube called the College Saga, a college version of Final Fantasy.

On Thursday the usual duo of Greg and Gordo came over and they and Rob and I had quite the walk here. We also had quite the walk to Safeway and back later in the night. On the way here I tried to get myself killed by running in front of a car. Of course that was unsuccessful because I still live. On the trip to Safeway we met a cashier named Y, and someone died on King George highway while we were in the store, because there were police cars and ambulances and fire trucks on the road when we left. Also a random friend of Rob's named Kyle, that came over later to return his iPod, said that he saw a body covered up there.

On Friday, no one came over, but we had some fun with just the three of us. Q and Rob were battling it out over the table their computers often share and we also played some awesome games of Bomberman on Gamecube and Mario Kart on Q's N64. I took a video of Q and Rob's entirely too geeky fight, and you'll have to message me if you want to see it!
