Two Weeks to Relax

So I have two weeks to relax now. My exams are over and they went well. Now all I'm doing is working 2 days a week. That and all the fun stuff that comes up. Oh, and I have to do a lot of thinking about my masters.

Since no post can be without photos...here are some from last weeks movie night, one which Sara and I didn't stay at through the movie time, but was still a lot of fun with the Guesstures charades game. I had an exam the next morning and I'm not a big fan of horror movies.

...and sushi:

In this one it looks like Nate is spearing his brother
in the head with something coming out of his mouth.

Tagged...again?

Apparently Shea tagged me.

1. Recently I got a Wii! Sara gave it to me as a sort of present for our 1 year anniversary and for me graduating soon.

Doesn't my Mii look like me?

2. My girlfriend Sara and I recently just had our 1 year anniversary (from our first date) and being geeky, I made a small computer program for her to use on the date. For two meals and two events during the day she had use the program to choose what was behind one of two doors. On the doors were clues to the event that might be behind them.

3. I am graduating this term. My convocation is in June! I will have a BSc in Interactive arts and Technology along with a minor in Mathematics. I'm pretty happy to be finishing up the math classes. I also got accepted into the Master's program for the same major. So I'll be going right into that in the fall.

4. The closest thing I have to a pet is a mylar balloon brought to a poker game at my house by a couple of friends. It came with a smilie face but they had made the smile much bigger and added eyebrows to the balloon in an attempt to make it's face like mine. I named this balloon Mylar and it is now about ½ year old. I have refilled the helium in the balloon a couple times now. The last time was to take him to the most recent poker game where this shot was taken of me.

5. I recently got my N driving license...much behind all my friends. I never cared too much about driving when I was younger and still don't care too much, as I can get most places by transit. It's also better for the environment. However it was a pain to have to ask people for a ride home from parties late at night when the bus no longer ran. I still feel bad about that. It can also be useful to driving when going on vacation, like camping. As it is I still need to get a vehicle.

6. I like to read. I'm amazed how many people in their twenties don't read. At least they don't read novels. Maybe they read things at work, they read road signs (sometimes) and they might read those daily newspapers that are handed out at the skytrain, but they don't really read read. Now, lately I've had a pretty busy life with work and school, but that also means I'm on the bus a lot, so I usually end up doing most of my reading in transit.

7. I feel like I'm behind. All my friends are younger than me. I got a cellphone much after them and with some persuading, I also just got my driver's license. I'm finishing my undegrad at an older age than most of them have or will. Oh well, at least I live without any "adult" supervision long before them.

Catch up

So a few things have held me back from making any posts in a long time. Of course school has been part of it. It gets pretty busy sometimes. And I have been working two days a week from home...or my laptop and wherever I happen to be with it. But really, I haven't been on here because I like to put photos in my blogs, and my camera broke. Luckily it was still under warranty and I got it fixed for free but it took sending it in to Canon. Then shortly after that my PC died. I think it must be the power supply. Anyways, I keep all my photos on there and I have the camera software on there. So, today I installed the camera software on my Mac, and now here I am.

Here's some random stuff from the last three months.

My family was in town and it was my dad's birthday on Jan 11th so we went out for some food at the Banana Leaf in downtown Vancouver. (Sitting right next to my dad so I didn't get any good photos of him - plus he doesn't like photos of him).

I went with Sara to one day of the Canadian championships of figure skating at the Pacific Coloseum. She had tickets to every day, so she took a different person each day. This is where my camera decided to break!

To celebrate the leap year, Adam, Nate, Murray and I played some poker at Adam's new place living with his brother. It was actually the day before he was moving in.

In March it was Q's birthday so he had a bunch of us over and there was some rock band action going on.

Some of us also played Scrabble (while listening to Gordo sing). Sara and I won the game by a narrow margin, but then we had an unfair advantage because some people were by themselves and we were on a team.

I visited Saturna for Easter weekend. We played a lot of rounds of disc golf on a course my dad created at the local school.

There was some monkey throwing.

We played some fun games like Blokus, Rummy blocks, and what we call Multi-game which is a game my dad made up using Scrabble, Password, Scategories, Outburst, Trivia, charades and Pictionary.

I think this is my sisters looking for easter eggs.

So, now that school is about to wind down and I have my camera back and am putting photos on here I may post a bit more often.

24 Hour 24 Marathon and Desert Bus

From 11am Dec 30th 2007 to 11am Dec 31st 2007, we watched 24 episodes (season 1) of the show 24. We also played the Penn and Teller video game called Desert Bus which involves driving a bus through a desert for 8 hours (no pause button). Much fun was had.

People were very excited about the marathon.

The room was really smoky from the bbq smoke coming right in the window.

Where there's smoke sometimes there's fire. We tried to keep
the smoke out of the house with the fan.

Rob was playing a game called Portal that looked like fun.

There was a lot of love.

Desert Bus was started up at 3am.

It wasn't easy to watch both screens if you were the one driving.

There wasn't much scenery along the road.

When we made it to Vegas, we received 00000001 point.
