Birthday Week

I had an awesome birthday week!

Wednesday:
I went to my grandmas (my old residence) for a small birthday dinner consisting of myself, brother, grandma and grandpa. We had a cake with only 2 + 3 candles for 23 years of life. My brother had to come to the rescue with his lighter when my grandma couldn't find a match.

Thursday (My actual birthday):
In the morning I woke up at 9:30 in Cloverdale. My brother and I headed out and met the rest of the gang at New West station for sushi. Sushi was great, but my stomach hurt after that and it didn't help that Shaz and Shea offered us cookies when we got back to the school.

Then I was scheduled to have my free coffee clan event. Basically the group of newbie students I led around the school in August were to get together with me (their fearless leader) and each get a free coffee or tea from Blenz. Many people showed up to this event, more so than in the past except they were bugging the hell out of me by disappearing rather than coming to Blenz. They were around, but they weren't there. Finally I went back up into the school and discovered they had a birthday cake laid out for me with pink and purple paper plates, noisemakers and hats. Oh..and there was also a crown.

Here is the cake.

After this was over I hung out with my friends a bit in the little movie theater room in the library. Greg says we should make it our space...but I don't know if that would be fair...plus it's kind of small for us all.

Next up was some indoor soccer, which was awesome as it was just my friends and myself with a random guy who happened to be there. Basically, no idiots being too aggresive, although Alex can get into the game a little too much and Q likes to yell some kind of weird war chants when running at you. The teams were Gordo, Brad, Parkes, Joe (random guy) and I against Greg, Alex, Q, Farley and Murray. They were great teams and mine kicked ass.

Last but not least (the most actually) was my party. We had the most people EVER in our place, including four people who had never been there. Shaz, who was one of them put a zillion candles on the cake that her and some others brought. Note, a zillion = 144 in this case. I wasn't allowed to go in the kitchen for a while as they prepared it and then it took quite an effort just to light most of the candles. Here it is in all it's glory:

Ok, maybe not all it's glory,
but the picture Shaz has of them all lit up
doesn't allow you to see any of the message.

Man those candles gave off a lot of heat. So...then Lee showed up with all of his alcohol peer pressure which I had somehow not anticipated despite having direct experience with it. We watched Ferris Bueler's Day Off and someone said we had to drink whenever he spoke to the camera (quite a bit). But that was no big deal. The killer was the 3 shots of fireball which apparently were more like double shots.

Apparently I look like I've just seen God here.

Friday:
I should have drank water before going to bed! I woke up with a horrible hangover. No headache, but an awful upset stomach. After throwing up I felt a bit better and headed off to school at 8:30 am (too early even on a normal day). I sat with my head in my hands and eyes closed while I answered most of the prof's questions. No one else likes to talk in that class! The prof said "He's sleeping and answering all the questions, come on!". Then he told me I really didn't need to be there and should get some rest. I went to collapse on a couch in the lounge. Various friends came in to see me. Gordo was being an ass, rubbing my condition in my face, but others were more friendly. Shaz walked with me down to get a cheese bun in the mall, but she brought her camera in case I threw up. That's just not right.

Anyways, I got better later by drinking some water and filling my stomach up a bit. It's good I did because I went out for supper that night in Vancouver with my sister and parents. It was some good food and I got a cheque from my mom as a birthday present.

Overall, this was my best birthday yet. It'll be hard to beat next year.

The girl with the camera always gets mentioned the most.

Now how do we top this birthday next year?

I'm thinking poprocks and a bonfire but really, in 365 days there will be far more advanced studies in pyrotechnics that will be released to to the public.

Also, never forget about the magical healing abilities of Natalie Portman.
