Apex

The christmas present from my parents this year consisted of us spending christmas skiing. We stayed in a condo right on the mountain so at the end of the day we could ski right up to our back porch and climb into the hot tub (after changing into a bathing suit (after finishing skiing)).

The first day of skiing (Christmas eve) was pretty crappy - the top of the mountain had blowing snow and was basically in the clouds, so we only went up there once. Some people were stuck on that chair lift for an hour or so. It got to the point where we said if it was gonna be that way on Christmas day, we wouldn't even bother skiing. Luckily it was fantastic the next day. After opening gifts, some of us took to the slopes.

The clouds were all below us.

I'm IT

Apparently I've been tagged. (I don't think it's anything like those body spray commercials!) Somehow Shea tagged me in the future tomorrow (according to her post) although perhaps I have just traveled from the future after reading it...eh..eh?

5 things no one knows about me:

1. I take board games too seriously. (Ok, so maybe some people know that one now) Maybe it is entertaining to other players?

2. I was teased quite a bit in middle school for apparently looking like a monkey.

3. When I was a little kid, I peed down the basement stairs while sleep walking.

4. I sometimes take a year longer than I should in getting up the guts to ask out a girl I like. I just get terrified about it. Here's to hoping the "we'll see" answer from a couple days ago turns into a "yes".

5. I shared a bedroom with a girlfriend for 8 months in our own appartment in a city where we knew no one but have since been single for 3 ½ years.

I tag bree and far.

@#$@!

Right now I am angry and I feel like making a post. This may be the first time I've made a post while angry.

I am angry because I just watched Babel and it was one of the miserable movies where you spend the entire time watching them make dumb mistakes and screw up their lives badly. It is all about anger and misery and horrible circumstances.

My computer completly crashed twice during the movie because the fan isn't working well and it needs more thermo conductive grease between the cpu and the fan. Rob took it apart LAST week and the case is currently open on it's side.

I'm angry I don't know more about computers and routers and @($&*@. Rob has decided to abandon us for a bit as he spent the whole weekend in Delta and we had no Internet from Thurs to Sunday. He came home tonight at 10:30pm for about 20 minutes...banging around the place being much louder than he needed to be. He was talking about how Costco hates him and he got 7 write ups but they can't fire him because of the labour shortage. How he loves this province because of it. What a ($&*#%. Apparently he will be back on Friday right after I leave.

Does anyone have thermo-conductive grease? Does anyone want to take Rob's spot tomorrow in a game of Axes and Allies? I doubt anyone will read this before the time we play.

I blame this post on #(*&% emos everywhere.

Like a Needle in a Haystack

I'm all done! Everyone's all done! For three weeks there is no school. There is only seasonal celebration (which I try and enjoy), shopping mayhem (which I try and avoid), and those damn problems with the Internet that pop up when your administrator (Rob) designs an intense server setup but then manages to somehow kill the router in the process.

Anyways, obviously our Internet is up again thanks to me (after being led through the process through Rob over the phone)!

Today I woke up in Cloverdale. I followed my brother to work and then ran out of luck. I say I ran out of luck because I then proceeded to go visit z! but she wasn't there. She wasn't working. I did a little shopping at the Willowbrook mall and went to my bank except it wasn't there either! It had moved. I jumped on a bus and figured I'd go visit Shea but she wasn't there. Finally I went to another bank but although it was there, all the ATM's were down! This is when I gave up and successfully found my house (it was still here), where I calmly decided to stay for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow I shall see if I can find my work. Oh please don't take 2 ½ hours like Friday. Stupid Skytrain.

Schnee!

Lots and lots of it. I love snow! This blog post is going to start on Sunday, if I can remember what happened on Sunday. The reason I'm doing it late is because we do NOT have internet at home. We haven't for quite a while. It's evil.

On Sunday, I went and got boots. They have come in such handy since then. Then I went home and made a snowman.

The snowman's name is Bridgit...wait...ok...correction...the snowWOMAN's name is Bridgit, in honour of a friend of mine. I will get pictures up here at some point. My snowwoman currently has ET-style ridges above the eyes due to more snow snowing on top of her.

So...then Q woke up. Yes, he often wakes up after many of us have already accomplished half of what we need to for the day.

That night there was a power outage! The only thing that didn't die was Rob's laptop. He used it as a sign that said in big letters "Doing Fine" and put it in the window. Then we watched Rob's truck narrowly miss getting killed by a large branch that fell from a tree and landed directly between two of the vehicles. We were going to leave to go to the school, where there was still power, but Rob's mom and sister randomly showed up. We chatted with them in the dark for a bit before we left to school.

At the school we used the microwave to heat up some leftover chicken we brought from home. Greg and Gordo was there but Greg was busy working on his design stuff. I helped some 2nd years solve problems in their asteroids-style games, and then the Internet went down.

When the Internet went down at 11pm-ish, many people couldn't really do their work, so we all went out to have the long planned for SNOW BALL FIGHT. There was about 20 people and the battled last until the Internet came back up. This I have pictures of (although not so high quality):

Rob got clobbered pretty bad at one point. That's a
snowball embedded in his glasses and
there was a matching one in his ear.

Greg and (design) Rob were often in the center of a ring of
the rest of us yet still managed to survive. They are
seen here with the random girl that (design)
Rob pegged in the eye with a snowball.

More on following events later...unless I get lazy. It's not like everyone doesn't know about the-skytrain-snow-problems-and-how-I'm-a-big-deal.

11.26.2006

Bang

What was that sound? Ok, so the first time I heard it, it was a big branch falling onto the Germen's van, but what was it the other times?...the times when the others heard it too. We really don't know. I'm sure the snow caused it. I love snow, and we (Rob, Q, Shea and I) had a small snowball fight which lasted about as long as our hands could stay warm.

There wasn't nice snow until after it was dark.

Tonight many things happe...wtf? There's the sound again! I think that the trees in the front yard are evil and drop large clumps of snow/branches on everything.

Anyways, yeah...many things. For one, Rob and I had troubles watching a movie, as someone locked the last half of the show. Right at the climax, the .avi just ends. We're like..."WHAT?!" Then we see there is another file...a rar...a rar which is password protected...and a large list of things you must do to obtain it. Luckily some other person did these things and then revealed the password on a forum.

We also played Risk tonight and it was a very heated game. I have determined Risk is evil.

Sweet Ammunition

So yesterday was a nice relaxing fun day. I got my passport photo taken at Costco and it seems I am following the strategy of looking too much like a schmuck to be a terrorist.

We had a nice big meal for dinner to actually spawn leftovers (including setting the table and all sitting down around it even though it was just us!).

We played some Bomberman action in the middle of the night. That game is very addicting.

Then it was decided we needed to have some nachos so we had to remove our large stash of candy (brought to us by Nate and Erin) from the pan. Rob decided the best way to do this was to dump the candy on Q's lap. Unfortunately he didn't realize that the candy could act as ammunition, and was forced to use the pan as a shield against flying candy on his way back to the kitchen. While Rob was distracted and trying to pick up a candy with his foot, Q managed to hit him right in the head. Rob stood dazed for a second, apparently tasting blood in his mouth. He then sported a large bump on his forehead.

War zone. Now perhaps I must clean up.

Take flight

So you may notice, if you leave a comment, that I decided to add a word verification thingy to my comments because I've been getting annoying spam. It complements my blog but it is still annoying.

I'm going to FLORIDA! Hehe...as lame as it is, I've never been that far from here. I've never been outside of North America and that's one of the farthest place I can go without leaving. Anyways, it's through work and it's free as I'm going to a conference. The Society for Technology in Anesthesiology annual meeting. Myself and 5 coworkers are going to stay in a vacaction home with a games room and everything. EVERYTHING. Anyways, should be a break in January from the usual drizzle of Vancouver. I just have to get my passport together.

Before that, for New Years, a large group of us are going to Whistler like we did last year. That will also kick ass. Besides being sick, last years trip was a lot of fun and included a meal at the spaghetti factory, a snow fight, and long sauna episodes. Nate and Erin enjoyed it at least as you can see.

Urrghh

...or whatever cavemen say.

So, on Sunday we moved a couple couches from Brad's garage and basement to Rob's room. It was quite the journey for the couches....to the point where it pissed off the Germen downstairs.

Had some problems with physics and sold objects but we eventually got it all sorted out.

Halloween was pretty cool. We handed out some candy to the very few trick or treaters that came by and then managed to eat most of the rest. We headed out to the school around 8:15 and I was surprised to see quite a few people in costume there. Greg went as his default ghostbuster, the costume he made when he was 13.

Wow...so now this post has been sitting open for most of the day as I went to school and then we were attempting to regain the internet (access to it I mean, not rulership of it).

Anyway, I was a caveman and didn't shave for a week in order to pull it off. I looked pretty scruffy for the part and reused my costume from the caveman party I once went to. Alex was some anime character and Brad was Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama in an awesome homemade costume that left him mostly blind. Brad's Tanya was MC Hammer with the shiny pants.

Neither of my roommates came with us to the school, as Rob and Gordo headed off to a bonfire and fireworks (Rob burnt his hand) and Q went downtown to some party dressed as Alice Cooper.

At the party there was a horrible DJ who played crap music that most people hadn't even heard before. Some people told him to play certain songs and he played some of them but then went right back to his crap...not really noticing how everyone stopped dancing when it started.

We only really danced for 4 songs or so but it was fun.

Meanwhile Alex and Greg had disappeared with a couple girls and when Brad talked to them on his cell they said they were off "carving pumpkins".

When we found them up the escalator it turned out there were ACTUALLY really carving pumpkins.

Birthday Week

I had an awesome birthday week!

Wednesday:
I went to my grandmas (my old residence) for a small birthday dinner consisting of myself, brother, grandma and grandpa. We had a cake with only 2 + 3 candles for 23 years of life. My brother had to come to the rescue with his lighter when my grandma couldn't find a match.

Thursday (My actual birthday):
In the morning I woke up at 9:30 in Cloverdale. My brother and I headed out and met the rest of the gang at New West station for sushi. Sushi was great, but my stomach hurt after that and it didn't help that Shaz and Shea offered us cookies when we got back to the school.

Then I was scheduled to have my free coffee clan event. Basically the group of newbie students I led around the school in August were to get together with me (their fearless leader) and each get a free coffee or tea from Blenz. Many people showed up to this event, more so than in the past except they were bugging the hell out of me by disappearing rather than coming to Blenz. They were around, but they weren't there. Finally I went back up into the school and discovered they had a birthday cake laid out for me with pink and purple paper plates, noisemakers and hats. Oh..and there was also a crown.

Here is the cake.

After this was over I hung out with my friends a bit in the little movie theater room in the library. Greg says we should make it our space...but I don't know if that would be fair...plus it's kind of small for us all.

Next up was some indoor soccer, which was awesome as it was just my friends and myself with a random guy who happened to be there. Basically, no idiots being too aggresive, although Alex can get into the game a little too much and Q likes to yell some kind of weird war chants when running at you. The teams were Gordo, Brad, Parkes, Joe (random guy) and I against Greg, Alex, Q, Farley and Murray. They were great teams and mine kicked ass.

Last but not least (the most actually) was my party. We had the most people EVER in our place, including four people who had never been there. Shaz, who was one of them put a zillion candles on the cake that her and some others brought. Note, a zillion = 144 in this case. I wasn't allowed to go in the kitchen for a while as they prepared it and then it took quite an effort just to light most of the candles. Here it is in all it's glory:

Ok, maybe not all it's glory,
but the picture Shaz has of them all lit up
doesn't allow you to see any of the message.

Man those candles gave off a lot of heat. So...then Lee showed up with all of his alcohol peer pressure which I had somehow not anticipated despite having direct experience with it. We watched Ferris Bueler's Day Off and someone said we had to drink whenever he spoke to the camera (quite a bit). But that was no big deal. The killer was the 3 shots of fireball which apparently were more like double shots.

Apparently I look like I've just seen God here.

Friday:
I should have drank water before going to bed! I woke up with a horrible hangover. No headache, but an awful upset stomach. After throwing up I felt a bit better and headed off to school at 8:30 am (too early even on a normal day). I sat with my head in my hands and eyes closed while I answered most of the prof's questions. No one else likes to talk in that class! The prof said "He's sleeping and answering all the questions, come on!". Then he told me I really didn't need to be there and should get some rest. I went to collapse on a couch in the lounge. Various friends came in to see me. Gordo was being an ass, rubbing my condition in my face, but others were more friendly. Shaz walked with me down to get a cheese bun in the mall, but she brought her camera in case I threw up. That's just not right.

Anyways, I got better later by drinking some water and filling my stomach up a bit. It's good I did because I went out for supper that night in Vancouver with my sister and parents. It was some good food and I got a cheque from my mom as a birthday present.

Overall, this was my best birthday yet. It'll be hard to beat next year.

general life stuff

Hey...so my life continues.

Last week I went to Saturna and spent my first hour there standing in the rain listening to a concert from outside the building. It wasn't fun. Apart from that it was great though. We went on another hike up along the bluffs...where you can look reallly freakin far out over the islands.

On my way home I ended up taking some round-about route across the river and back again because the buses were all screwed again and it turned out to be faster than the shorter route. Transit consistently proves that the fastest route between two points is not a straight line (and may not even be the bus route closest to that straight line) .

This weekend my parents came over here. I think they general approved of the place. It was a bit messy in the living room with all the wires and random stuff laying everywhere. I think I heard Rob say we're a bunch of pack rats. Murray pointed out how a bag Greg left here a couple weeks ago was still sitting in the same spot.

I took my mom and sisters over to the school for a little tour in order to not wake-up Q, who was still sleeping. My mom thought the school was very different from went she wented to University...and I sure hope she's right!

10.07.2006

No, it IS my username

We ended up having two house warming parties, both of which started quite slow - meaning I was the only one there for the first hour (not even my roommates were there). They went alright though...despite be somewhat geeky with the star trek movie watching.

I've taken up playing Ultimate frisbee up at Burnaby campus and that's going pretty good. I'm just playing in rec in the ultimate club, so all we do is play one big long game without keeping score. Well...we keep score near the end of the evening when we will play a little game up to 5 or so. No matter the team I've been on, we've always managed to win those so far.

This weekend I'm heading over to Saturna Island again to see my family and grandparents, and possibly my grandpa will show up on his boat. Should be a nice relaxing weekend full of glutiny and such. I have no homework for the week!

9.23.2006

Settling In

Today is the day of our house warming party. We've settled in quite a bit, what with the other having computers they use here rather than everyone using mine. We've also managed to make some messes.

Rob has really moved in yet though. His room is still empty and he still sleeps on the couch in the living room. Maybe it's because he believes the party tonight will just get us kicked right out of this joint. I'm just worried that most of the people there will end up being friend's of Rob's that I've only really seen at Rob's parties. That's because he's just worried we won't have enough room for people to hang out comfortably. I suggest people hang out in my room to aid the segregation between two groups that usually happens at one of our parties.

Fortunately since formatting my computer and then downloading drivers I can now actually get pictures off my camera's memory card! It used to freeze up my computer. Unfortunately I still don't have a good program for photo editting. That will probably change today though.

From the new Place

Soooo...yesterday he who doesn't really live here yet managed to get our Internet working. It still works. My computer was also wipped clean as it was filled with deadly viruses and all that fun stuff. Fortunately I took lots of needed stuff off of it before I formatted. That included all my pictures...well those that I didn't chose to delete (as Greg seemed to think, killing memories).

Here are some random pictures:

This last pic by Shaz I believe.

Moved

Soo...I have moved now. Not spaces, not anything online...but actually in fact moved my place of real-life residence. I now live much, much closer to school...and well...closer to everything really. Before I was out in the boonies. Now rather than being spoiled by my grandma, I am fending for myself along with 1½ classmates.

I say 1½ because 1 of them has yet to really move in. In fact, he has yet to tell his mom that he is even moving out. I don't know why he hasn't told her, but I believe he is waiting until she accidently finds out or puts all the hints together. Oh well, as long as he pays his rent...and fixes my computer...and makes us food...and such...then we're all good. Mwahaha. Actually, I have offered to do a lot of cleaning as my bit. I like a clean place and that's one of the reasons I moved. That and the experience I'm sure it will offer.

We're already going crazy and forgetting who's who.

8.15.2006

What's up?

Soo...

I'm going to be working till December now at the same job at the Children's hospital where I don't spy on, poke at, put to sleep or even really see little kids. Those are all just rumors. I will be at school on Fridays taking the one class that is required for my program. That is they cancelled one and I took one last year so this is the only mandatory one left for this semester.

I've been to the new campus. I think it looks pretty cool although it appears as if all the design students are not big fans. They're quite critical, those people.

I've now spent 3 nights at Gordo's pad/clubhouse/cousin's place he is watching for a couple weeks. Two of those times were kind of spur-of-the-moment-lets-go-to-Po-Co-and-maybe-Safeway-and-lets-hope-no-one-notices-i'm-wearing-the-same-clothes-tomorrow fun times. Watched two movies every time which is pretty cool. That adds up to 6 movies by the way, and I hadn't seen two of them. Taxi Driver was kind of messed up with a young Robert DeNiro that looked like Bill Pullman and who had a character that wasn't very bright. Signs was fairly good although there didn't seem to be much to the movie...kind of anticlimatic I thought.

Camping trip 2006

Camping completed! It was an awesome trip featuring...

a lot of swimming (including shampooing) ,

a "shocking" hike under powerlines with walkie talkie action, and entirely too little boating (considering we brought a boat).

...And some people who were there....

It was all good fun and no one snapped although I did lose my wallet...for the second time in three years and it's a pain in the ass to replace my cards (this time I lost my Carecard too which is good secondary ID).

Now on to the second phase of my vacation...here on Saturna island...

7.27.2006

Job/Camping/Life

Ohhhhk, so after a little twisting of my arm by the Coop coordinator for SFU Surrey, I have decide to remain at my job until December. Well, there are many reasons to do it, but that was the final one that made up my mind. That, and I will still take one class at SFU Surrey, thus seeing my friends and hanging out in the new campus which should be much better than the old campus. It may take a little getting used to though. Plus...knowing me, well knowing my group of friends, I will end up staying at school really late and hanging out.

Despite what the Surrey newspaper said, this is not the mezzanine of the new campus.

Since I'm going to school for only one class, I 've also decided not to be a Peer Educator (the volunteer position I had last year). I'll probably still help out with some events, but I'm not going to do any weekly hours. Some of my friends think this is good...as they are almost anti-volunteerists.

Now for something completely different...tomorrow we're going camping...and by "we" I mean Rob-Murray-Gordon-Greg-Alex-Erin-Nate-Aaron-Brad-Tanya-Q-Laura and I. It's just like Whistler's group except we now have Tanya instead of Jessica, Laura instead of Danielle, Q instead of Adam, and Aaron instead of Kyle or Parkes. You know...practically the same group.

It's going to be a blast, I can feel it EVEN THOUGH we're not even there yet and Rob has yet to light the fuse on anything.

Speaking of Rob, I will probably be living with him and Q and Oliver starting sometime in the next month. It's going to be interesting to say the least. I may end up doing all the cleaning while the others do the cooking, and I may like it that way.

7.23.2006

Sweat

I call this weekend...the weekend of Sweat. I am glad it is over, although perhaps I lost some weight? I went running both mornings and spent a lot of time going from place to place outdoors (where it was HOT). Hey, even indoors was quite hot.

Decided to shave on Friday night, and then also went and got a haircut on Saturday afternoon. Thus, I am as z! put it..."clean" now.

I am probably one of the few people to see both Clerks II and Monster House in theaters this weekend, as that's a very odd combination.

Oh, and Shea...sorry about the...uhh...joke. She knows what I'm talking about.

7.19.2006

mustachio...

If you didn't know...for the last month or so...
I've been growing a mustache!

I think I shall shave it off soon for I don't think it is really me
despite others saying I should keep it. That and my hair
which is growing pretty long. I don't know whether I'll cut that.

We shall see.

My msn plus has decided to randomly hide some desktop contacts and randomly show others. I am sorry...if you are mysteriously being hidden I don't really hate you...it's really not my fault. Anyway, you wouldn't know about it if I hadn't just told you.

Now if that last paragraph wasn't useless...I don't know what is. I'm going to a baseball game on Friday. I don't know where it is and I don't know who's playing - I only know it is from 1pm - 3pm and I have a free ticket from work and other people from work will be there. I have answered very few of the questions I praised in my time management workshop. I guess that makes me a hypocrite. Ah well...at least I plan to look up the answers tomorrow...I've just been too lazy so far.

7.18.2006

Greg's back!

So on the weekend (sometimes I think I live for the weekends) there was OL training in which I gave workshop on time management and stress..well..management as well. It went alright, although it was all really just part of the wait till Rob's where we had a welcome back Greg sort of get together turned party. It turned into a party since a whole bunch of people were there drinking who we didn't even really know. The party broke into two as it usually does when this happens. I swam in the pool way to much and I only remember my camera well enough to take this shot...

My friends love each other very much :)

Luckily, the nexy morning after I went home I recieved an email calling us all back to Rob's for a planning party for our camping trip. It was a good thing cause I left my camera at Rob's and he'd starting using it. I took a few more pics...

My friends don't love me so much :(

Oh well, at least he's back!

7.14.2006

Lyrics

Sometimes I think songs are cool purely because of the lyrics in them. The following 4 songs have interesting lyrics, ironic or ryhming or both and I like that...

Alanis Morissette - Ironic
"It's a traffic jam when you're already late
It's a no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife... "

Howard Jones - No one is to Blame
"You can look at the menu but you just cant eat
You can feel the cushions but you cant have a seat
You can dip your foot in the pool but you cant have a swim..."

Tim McGraw - Back When
"Back when a hoe was a hoe
Coke was a coke
And crack's what you were doing
When you were cracking jokes
Back when a screw was a screw
The wind was all that blew..."

Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave your Lover
"Ooo slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus..."

Very different songs I know...but all with catchy lyrics in my opinion.

Cave People, Balls and Soccer

So last weekend...sooo long ago, stuff happened. For one I went to a caveman party and did cavemen things all cavemen do like play caveman video games (in black and white of course).

In retrospect it appears the rest of my weekend was a bit painful but quite fun...
After this was over I had a pretty relaxing Saturday swimming in my aunt's pool and such in which my mom commented that I was FAT. Saturday eventually led into Sunday in which I decided to go for a morning run...just because. Our weekly (but no too weekly) Icetek meeting happened minus a few members, and we got a little done on our website. We also went on a Google run, as Brad likes to call trips to T&T.

After this all we ended up at Rob's place which tends to be the trend. At Rob's we threw juggling balls back and forth across the pool at which point I ended up laying curled in the fetal position on the ground for a good ten minutes after Q sent a ball into mine. Rob just went on about how that was nothing and how it hurt much more if you had worse done to you twice in one day. Ok, Rob.

After we got something to eat Gordo called up Rob's friend Mike and since they he was playing soccer with some friends we (eventualllllly) decided to go play soccer with them. Not against them mind you, as they were wearing shorts and t-shirts (some wore cleats), had been playing for 45 minutes, and were soccer players. We on the other hand were wearing jeans or nice pants or sandals or any other things not designed for playing soccer in. So we mixed up the teams a little...not much it turned out...but a little. It was an awesome game, in which my team...which turned out to be with most of them...won. It was also good exercise and I was sore for a few days after.

7.08.2006

Saturna

I'm too busy lately for this thing. I haven't even blogged about last weekend, much less this one. I guess I'd better start at the begining. Last weekend was rather exciting. I spent it over on Saturna at my parent's place which is quite removed from civilization. Much of civilization followed me there though, as there was a huge Canada day lamb BBQ, where more than 1100 meal tickets were sold. The population of the island is about 300 with no camp grounds or hotels on the island. Just B & B's.

The next day we were at East Point, which is the farthest corner of the island from where my parents live (although it only takes 20 minutes to get there). They have some crazy rock formations on the slope down to the beach and this time I didn't forget my camera.

She got sucked into the rock...oh well...I've got 4 more siblings anyway.

The water had way too much fun molding the rocks in this section.

We walked around the point and then we went back up to our cars, but at the time there was a whole bunch of people showing up. They told us that someone had sighted killer whales coming toward the point so we headed back down to the beach. We saw a lot of boats off in the distance - whale watchers and fisheries boats zooming between them telling them when to back off or spread out and not to cut in front of the whales' path. About 15 whales swam by about 15 feet from the shore or so.

Later I went swimming in the ocean, although that was at a different beach. It was a pretty relaxing weekend, and nice to get away from the city for a couple days.

6.29.2006

pizza!

Sometimes I think watching a movie alone is pathetic. However, I wanted to watch the movie, so the fact that no one else showed up to watch it AND the VCR wasn't correctly hooked up to anything to allow me to watch it did not stop me from in fact watching it. "It" refers to the Inside Man, which turned out to be fairly good. Pretty much all Orientation Leaders out there have played that game where there's a split down the middle of the crowd and you have to walk across it to the other side whenever a condition shouted out applies to you. I laughed when they played that game in the middle of the back robbery while threatening everyone with guns.

Anyway, the reason I was at the school (the place no one stayed to watch the movie at) was because there was a goodbye betaspace (the old space) party. There did not turn out to be too many of my friends there, or really that many people in general as they had way too much free food (food refers to pizza at SFU Surrey). People took random pictures.

Speaking of pictures...I took some of my own for once when I went out to mown the lawn. There was a tiny cute little kitten which is the neighbors that came up to me and would bound towards me and then get scared and bound away. I think it thought it was a bunny. My camera is evil and won't let me upload pics or movies from it to my own computer if they are put on my memory card. So that will come later.

Now I'm off to Saturna Island for the long Canada day weekend.

I can play the stick game

The detour to the detour...is the original route? Today my bus decided to go straight rather than turn off on the detour, though I have a sneaky suspicion the bus driver just messed up. The road is far from being done as construction in Surrey almost NEVER finishes.

Three short tips of advice that I picked up from the weekend:

If you don't have sun block, then ask someone else for sun block other wise your face will look like spiderman's. (When he wears his mask I mean)

If you're going to be sneaky and dishonest enough to cheat at a game (especially the stick game - yes I know..you have no clue what that is...nah nah nah!), then make sure you are also dishonest enough to not confess to cheating later.

If you play capture the flag, head first to the playground where you shall be injured rather than to the forest with the chest/fridge that contains bugs AND nothing. (So you don't waste time)

A dime is hard to find on the bottom of a pool, broken clocks are right twice a day, and succesfully throwing three balls held in one hand at the exact same time across a pool to 3 people who all catch them on the very first try is possible.

Yes, these were all relevant to my weekend.
