What's the deal with double eyelids?
I just found out that there was some sort of significance to them today. So I can truly say this Jerry Seinfeld-ish line without it seeming silly. By significance I mean that people actually care about them and many people...especially over in Asia think people who don't have them look better. I really don't get the deal, I really wouldn't think a girl was hotter with a crease in her upper eyelid than without.
But there is a deal. So much of a deal that there is quite a few people in Asia getting upper eyelid surgery to put a crease in their eyelids. Apparently half of all asian people are born without a crease in their upper eyelid and for those asian eyelids that do have creases they differ a lot from the eyelids of non-asian people. Yeah, that's one of the things that defines them as asian. So what? It's nothing to get surgery about!
I learned about this today because a girl at work who coincidently doesn't have a crease in her upper eyelids mentioned how her friend was getting the surgery done today. Over here in Vancouver I assume. Apparently the friend's spouse's family was all making fun of her for not having a crease. I wonder how much this type of surgery costs. It's a mad mad world I tell ya.
When I asked my coworker what the difference really was she said I wouldn't know because I have double eyelids. mmmmk....she's got a point.
